Religion and Spirituality

Spirituality, of course, is a personal thing. And it means something different for everyone. Even though I sometimes attend a church and have been baptized, I know that my experience with God is different than yours, or my Husband’s, or anyone else. Because we are all different. We experience things differently and think differently. That is what makes us fascinating and endlessly confusing, lol.

Spirituality is what lifts us up and makes us better.

It is what gives us patience with those who are struggling with their own problems and beliefs, and inspires us to be kind and help those in need.

I think Religions are more of a taught thing, which does not make them bad. I just mean that Spirituality is different in that, even if you have never picked up a Bible or had any real experience with a church, people often instinctively know that there is more out there than they can see, something that connects all of us.

Part of what makes us human is our desire to understand the unexplainable, and I think striving towards this is how we all grow. It should be a lifelong journey of discovery. Not just what you can read in books or on the internet, but getting out of your head and bed and going out to meet people and experience all the things we have been Blessed with every day!

It is so easy to focus on the bad stuff, to get stuck on complaining…but can you see? Can you smell the flowers? Are you able to hear and walk about without help? These are Blessings! We take them for granted and forget to be thankful for them, but just imagine how different life would be if you woke up tomorrow and your answer to any of those questions…or several of those questions was no?

And yet, even if it were, if you can rise above it, and still find ways to have a full life, and enrich the lives of those around you, then you have found something no one can take from you, and I hope you will embrace it and share it!

Spirituality – what is that to you?

I found a site that you can download a free, ad-free application to read the Bible. You don’t have to carry around a big tome to have constant access to the word of God. If you are a believer, you know the peace and comfort this can give you. If you are not, then I invite you to see for yourself. I am not getting any compensation for recommending this site, but I think it is worth your time. www.bible.com.

The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit. Amen. Philippians 4:23
