Isn’t it Time We Do More Than Muse?

As the year winds down, I always tend to muse on past events, and what comes next. I’ve worked for the last couple of years doing online marketing with great companies such as the one that puts out MoreThanMuse wine, and I am proud of that, but I see so many more things still left undone! I want to take my work, and my life to the next level.

I guess it is natural this time of year to reflect back. And there is nothing wrong with that. But I think past reflection should be brief, just an inventory of what went right and what needs correction, so we can go forward with confidence.

I received a bottle of More Than Muse in a monthly shipment from my wine club, and the whimsical label tempted me to pop it open immediately, but it also got me dreaming a bit, as well.

Most people are familiar with what a muse is, at least in a general sense. Artists of all types often refer to their muses–someone or something that they say inspires their artistic creativity. Sometimes it is a real woman they know, and sometimes a spirit. It is great to have a muse, something to give you a starting place, an idea of what you want to create.

But then I remembered that the key members of this company, whoever their muses are, didn’t get where they are by being whimsical! Creativity and ideas are nothing if you don’t put in the hard work to make your idea into reality. What is the saying? Goals without action are just dreams. So that begs the question…isn’t it time we did more than muse?

I invite you to open a bottle of fine wine and take a little time to reflect on your own dreams and goals. Ask yourself? What is holding you back?

I am reading a book now by a very successful man, but he didn’t start out that way. He had all kinds of ideas but just couldn’t seem to make them pan out. Till a rich man gave him a clue. If you want to be rich, you need to think like a rich man. Very interesting and thought provoking book so far.

One of the premises in the book , Secrets of the Millionaire Mind, is that two people can go through the same course, learn the same concepts, and be given the same tools. Yet one will not succeed, and the other may be wildly successful. So if all else is equal, it boils down to how someone thinks, which determines how they act. The author states that he determined part of his problem was fear. Not just fear of failure, but fear of initial success, and then somehow losing it all again. He apparently believed that would make him look worse than if he never succeeded at all.

Might sound silly, and I don’t think most people think that consciously, but if you let beliefs like that run around in your head, they will definitely wreak all kinds of havoc!

If I had another glass of More Than Muse, I might confess to feeling the same way! Not rational, and certainly not productive! Therefore, a habit I am trying to break! But I know I am not alone. I talk to people every day that desperately want to succeed, but have the same limiting beliefs and fears getting in their way!

I have started following the teachings of several successful people, including Rory and Tanya Ricord, and am making a point everyday to listen to or read something positive from a successful person to improve my outlook and train my brain to think like a rich person. So, I ask again…isn’t it time we all did more than muse?
