My husband is the ultmate protective dad, when it comes to my Bonus Daughter. He does a pretty good job of not smothering her, but he worries constantly and does everything he can think of to keep her safe. To that end, the shutdowns that came with the Covid Pandemic, or Plandemic, some call it, actually worked in our favor. It made it easier for us to homeschool, in addition to me being able to work from home. But, as anyone, knows. Kids need Brainfood!
While we feel much more confident in her physical safety, we still want the best in education for her! The first few months North Carolina just had teachers teach over the computer, which was ok.
However, school teachers still tend to have too many students and too little control of their classrooms. And that is not a criticism of teachers, but of the public education system which puts far too many barriers in place! So being able to really reach their potential and feed their students’ minds the way they need is barely possible. Enter Brainfood online private school!
After the end of the 2020 school year, we moved to an online Academy.That was great in some ways, because students can work at their own pace. But unless you have a really motivated student, there are drawbacks.
Brainfood is American owned and run. But the American owners have years of experience in online education as they have owned and run an online tutoring company in Australia for years. They have been hiring teachers over the last few months and are launching all grades for our first year in August of 2023!
I say ‘we’ because I have been part of the Marketing organization that they also run since 2018. These are people I know personally, and have since 2018. If you have kindergarten aged children, this grade is free.
All other grades have a small tuition, but because it is a private school there are government grants you may be able to get towards tuition and education expenses! I share those links in this article so you can check your state.
This is a federally approved curriculum, so meets criteria to be accredited in every U.S. state. So, just like you want to feed your child high quality food, feed them high quality education with Brainfood!
Classes are held over zoom and your child must be on camera so the teacher can verify attendance. This keeps your child accountable, too! This is I love. Because the online schooling where the kids just watch a prerecorded lesson and take a quizz….it is easy for them to slack off and get behind. Trust me. Plus, I think the interaction with a live teacher and other children is very important, too!
And if you get started, and your child just does not click with a particular teacher, you can actually switch classes. Teachers have Youtube videos they have created, so they are basically interviewing for you and the students. Not like traditional schools where you were assigned a certain teacher for the class and that was that. This is hard on students and teachers alike, because personality conflicts do happen. Working through those is an important life lesson, true. However, if you really feel that the teacher is not meeting you halfway, you can switch.
And no matter your political views, politics are kept out of the classroom.
No one is pushing any agenda or trying to slant the curriculum for political gain. We are teaching the fundamentals that all kids need, sticking to facts and giving children the tools to think for themselves and make up their own minds on any topic that may come up.
